So in the spirit of gas reduction...of the auto kind, we decided to actually take the bikes out and see how long it would take us to get to PerryAnn's school and how hard of a ride it would be to get there and then get me back home. My plan was to have Dan stay at home and just PA, her friend Ashley and I go so that when we did not make it, Dan could come pick us up. Dan and Gracie decided they wanted to go too so it was nice to have the trip be a family affair but I was sure we were going to be pushing our bikes home, in the dark swearing off any future attempts at this remarkable feat and if you know our family or if you know my 14 year old couch potato even a little you have to classify this as "remarkable". Then the light bulb went off...the Tibbett's live across the street from the school. If we make it to school but can't make it home I will just knock on Jennita's door, borrow her car and get us all home and either come pick up the bikes when we bring her car back or just leave them there for her next garage sale knowing that they will probably never be used at our house again. Solid plan..and we are off.
Looking good. Everyone was riding like champions. We made it only 15 minutes. It was due to mechanical failure. Dan's chain came off 5 minutes into it. We fixed it and then at minute 13 we realized that PerryAnn's bike seat was not properly adjusted so she was low riding and her front tire was wobbley. So we traded bikes and headed home. If you have never tried to take a video on your little cruddy camera while riding a bike with a seat that is too low and a wobbley front tire at dusk on the sidewalk...dont.
You don't have to be near death to just stop by.....:)
