I'm tired. Some days more than others but today, I was really tired. Why, I am not completely sure. The dog was up barking all night which kept Gracie awake so it was a long evening. But I can't blame my not sleeping on the dog since I did not sleep well before she "blessed" our lives. I freak out occasionally and by occasionally I mean every night. I also have a dental hygiene issue that makes me get up and brush my teeth whenever I feel the urge. So my lack of sleep made today a long day, though my gums have never been healthier. I missed an appointment in Pasadena because I wrote it down wrong in my brain's calendar. The calendar in Dan's office had the right time listed as did my computer but who relies on those when you have your almost 40 year old brain to rely on? So I arrived 2 hours late after driving for a hour just to turn around and drive another hour home all the while wasting 120 miles of the $3.89 a gallon gas that I had put in this morning. When I picked up Gracie, I was still in my "funk" so when she was content playing with her pink marker and tablet, though it was on the couch, I let it slide so I would not have to entertain her. I did the "what will be worse...making her stop what she is doing which will throw her into fit mode or let her play quietly with the risky items and hope that she contains the mess to just herself which is fairly easy clean up. I went with risking pink marker on the couch. I won, but when I realized that the pen was all over her hands, arms and face we went into the bathroom to clean up. She wants to do most things on her own so we put her naughty stool by the sink so she could reach. She was happy washing and rinsing her hands over and over again so I decided to weigh the potential consequences of letting her stay in their and play. Peace and harmony won and I let her stay. I figure my first risk payed off, why not shoot for two. I checked on her and although she had opened the wrapper of the "good soap" and was washing the counter with it nothing major happened and all the pink marker was gone...bonus.
Ok, they were the good soaps that you aren't supposed to use but I guess what good is soap in a bathroom if you can't use it, right? I let it go and she continued to play. More peace and harmony ensued. I then realized that it was too quiet and there was too much peace and harmony ensuing so I had better check on her. Water rushing, good soaps floating and the towel seen in picture one is now in the sink blocking the drain. Two more minutes and we would have had what I would have blogged about as an "incident" but luckily it was averted...and worth every second.
It's always good to let them clean with the good soap!
Sometimes I take my kids outside, with two big pans of water and some gravy spoons and let them have at it..they have a blast.
